Kirsten graduated from the Art Institute of Portland in 2001 with a Bachelors in Apparel design. Since graduating she has worked on a number of very interesting projects, everything from wedding gowns to portable kayak covers. She gets inspiration for designs from just about everything she sees, feels or hears.

Kirsten moved home to Anchorage, Alaska in the winter of 2006 and has been steadily increasing her knowledge of finishing techniques and designing more intricate and interesting things. In November of 2008,Virtue art gallery, in downtown Anchorage Alaska hosted an exclusive trunk show using ten of her designs. In the spring of 2009, the Alaska Fiber Festival awarded one of her designs first place. It was a coat entirely felted so no seams were visible, except the inset sleeves. In the summer of 2008 she designed a beautiful wedding dress for one of her best friends, incorporating a classic 1910 look with a modern twist. “I like to incorporate my own designs with the best of the past to create something entirely new and modern, hedging on futuristic, which still speaks of the concepts of elegance, beauty, functionality, comfort and quality,” say’s Kirsten.

She also states, “In doing design my goal is to see a real sense of style return to the clothing that we wear. In the 40’s, 50’s and early 60’s there was an elegance of structure in the garments that were made and a pride taken in the construction of the garments. I take pride in the work I do and love it passionately. I really don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t design.”
